Workshop on Global Young People and Education
Sunday, March 7th
We are joining The 54th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (March 1-12, 2010), and organizing a one-day workshop, only on Sunday, March 7th, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, on Global Young People and Education that will provide a platform for discussion of issues relating to education around the world. We are inviting students from the wider New York area to identify burning issues about education with respect to one or more countries of their choice. We will meet every weekend in February 2010 for group discussion in preparation for the workshop at the United Nations.
This is an opportunity for learning how to make a formal presentation and/or paper on a topic of interest related to education. We will guide you through the entire process of preparing a presentation. During the next two months, we will be meeting on the weekends to discuss relevant issues and select the best presenters for the workshop. Possible themes for presentations include:
- Educational achievement and reasons for lack of it among genders
- Gender differences in professional realization
- Institutional mechanisms for the advancement of women
- Women’s right to literacy and freedom through education
- Methods of ensuring equal access to education for women around the world.
Students interested in presenting, need to fill out this application and e-mail it to apply@ManhattanMulticulturalCounseling.com.
