Welcome
“Tolerance Human beings must respect one another, in all their diversity of belief, culture and language. Differences within and between societies should be neither feared nor repressed, but cherished as a precious asset of humanity”
Kofi Annan, United Nations Secretary-General, 2000
Our Summer Youth Program
Founded in 2003, MMC aims at providing cultural competency programs and counseling services to adolescents and families in the New York City area.
New York City is a melting pot, which brings people from different regions of the United States and the world, together in one place. This diversity, brings many different perspectives into our lives, enriches our own experiences, and provides an opportunity for us to deepen our understanding of other cultures and backgrounds.
Individuals and families, who are unfamiliar with the fast paced, high energy lifestyle of New York City, often find themselves experiencing an array of emotions , ranging from isolation, anxiety, uncertainty and confusion, as they learn to adapt to their new surroundings.
Manhattan Multicultural Counseling is a safe and non judgmental environment, which is focused in assisting New Americans in assimilating, and adapting to their new life, while raising cultural awareness.
According to Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities….adopted by General Assembly resolution 47/135 of 18 December 1992
Article 4:4 -- States should, where appropriate, take measure in the field of education, in order to encourage knowledge of the history, traditions, language and culture of minorities existing within their territory. Person belonging to minorities should have adequate opportunities to gain knowledge of the society as a whole.
